Mcgee Family Portraits Baton Rouge LA - Joey Bordelon Photography

JBP had another session of family portraits, and this time it was with lovely Mcgee Family.

Marcia McGee contacted us wanting to take more up-to date photos of her children Chancellor (5) years old and Blake (3) years old. She let us know that she was interested in an organic photo-shoot, where in this case, she wanted more candid images instead of staged. With all of our portrait sessions, we always appreciate ideas of what our clients are looking for before the shoot begins, so that way we can create images more to the visual ideas they had in mind.

The McGee family met us downtown to begin their family portraits and we began to find some spots for the children to have fun around. Usually for children’s portraits it is best just to let the kids be themselves and play, especially when a photographer is trying capture more of moments rather than poses for the parents. Chancellor and Blake are quite well-mannered kids and the family was a joy to work with. Blake was really charismatic character and wasn’t camera shy, which is always a plus. Chancellor was friendly and full of energy, especially while splashing around in water fountains near the Shaw Building. The kids as a whole were well-mannered and animated, which for us as photographers is the best combo.

In the images you will see that we really used downtown to our advantage as far as scenery and props went. There is a nice mix of urban and foliage to choose from which we really played with…. of course we also benefited from the beautiful glow of afternoon light hitting their skin and surroundings. With the range we have in our sharp lenses we are able to capture defining details and unique angles to bring out more individuality of the models. Family Portraits are always really entertaining for us, not only do we get to create tangible memories but meet great new people along the way.
